Initial Thoughts on American Heritage

Robert E & Maud B Finch Wedding

As generations go, I’m a statistical outlier: All of my grandparents were born before 1884. Through a quirk of fate, I’m the youngest son of the youngest son across several branches of my family tree, going back several generations.  As a result, I’m only five generations removed from a great grandfather who served in General Washington’s Continental Guard and only 11 generations removed from the 1st Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony who arrived in 1628.  I also come from a group of families who were meticulous in documenting and handing down family genealogy, heritage and stories.
